Nearby are examples, within walking distance of the highway, of ancient indigenous rock-painting.

Day 3: CATAVIÑA – BAHIA DE LOS ANGELES
Breakfast at the hotel. A morning visit to the rock paintings. Departure to Bahia de los Angeles. Bahia de Los Angeles is a small fishing village located on the shore of a large bay protected by the waters of the Sea of Cortez by the Midriff Islands. Bahia de Los Angeles is well-known for good fishing, strong winds, and hot and humid summers. The islands also provide a paradise for divers and snorklers, although the strong tides and unpredictable winds make both treacherous. The shorelines of the peninsula and the islands contain hidden beaches that are private and appear untouched.
Arrive and check in at the hotel.
Overnight.

Day 4: BAHIA DE LOS ANGELES - PUNTA CHIVATO
Breakfast at the hotel. Late morning departure to Guerrero Negro, which is the point of entry to the state of Baja California Sur. Continue to San Ignacio. Here, in the bottom of a wide arroyo surrounded by arid desert, is a forest of date palms and one of the most charming towns on the peninsula. A visit to Misión San Ignacio, a magnificent 18th. century construction built with lava-block walls. Continue to Santa Rosalía, a town located between two tablelands by the Sea of Cortez. Santa Rosalía displays its unique French architecture in its beautiful buildings that have witnessed the history of this indomitable town. Continue to Punta Chivato.

Day 5 & 6: PUNTA CHIVATO
Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure. Light lunch and dinner.

Day 7: PUNTA CHIVATO - MULEGÉ - LORETO
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning departure to Mulegé, one of the oldest and prettiest towns in the Baja peninsula. The village is situated between two hills, in a valley provided with life by a stream that runs until it joins the estuary which flows to the sea; edged by huge palm trees, orchards and fences where bougainvilleas of all colors tangle. This privileged place was discovered by the jesuit father Juan María de Salvatierra, who founded in 1705 the mission called Santa Rosalía de Mulegé. The origin of the name Mulegé drifts from the Cochimíes voices "Carmaañc galexá", that means "Large Ravine of the White Mouth". Bahía de Concepción, a few kilometers from Mulegé with awesome landscapes and a multitude of beaches with soft, white sand: Santispac, Concepción, Los Cocos, El Burro, El Coyote, Buenaventura, El Requesón and Armenta.
Finally, arrival to Loreto, the former capital of the Californias.
Loreto is considered the oldest human settlement on the Peninsula of Baja California. In 1697, the Jesuit priest/explorer - Juan Maria de Salvatierra founded Loreto with its sweet water oasis and arid climate. It was here that he built the first mission of Baja - Our Lady of Loreto. It was from this mission that Christianity was peacefully introduced to the Californians. Loreto was the capital of the California for more than 133 years until the capital was moved to La Paz. Loreto remains rich in history and full of undiscovered natural wonders.
Check in at the hotel.

Day 9: LORETO - LA PAZ
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure to La Paz.
Located on a large bay on the Sea of Cortez, La Paz is 137 miles by road north of the southern tip of the peninsula.
